Activities: Gospel Film Gathering -- Love is plan B

This film is based on a true story—a story of love and hope.

Man Kwok-shing and his wife, Ching-ching, were enjoying a pre-retirement vacation in Hawaii with their family when, unexpectedly, a rare virus attacked Ching-ching’s brain, leaving her life hanging in the balance. Although she was eventually brought back from the brink of death, part of her brain had been permanently damaged, severely affecting her ability to speak and move.

Kwok-shing had no choice but to give up the career he had always taken pride in and devote himself to caring for his wife around the clock, both in the hospital and at home. She had limited mobility and could no longer express herself clearly through speech.

Her recurring health setbacks tested not only their love for one another, but also the faith of everyone around them. To love someone is to build a bridge of hope for them through love when they need you most—and to continue walking that journey together.

On three occasions, Kwok-shing repeated to Ching-ching the vows he had made on their wedding day. The same song also appeared at three significant moments during her long journey of treatment and recovery.

What God gives us may not always be Plan A; it may instead be Plan B. Just when everyone thought it was impossible, Kwok-shing and Ching-ching were able to walk slowly down the red carpet to attend their daughter’s wedding. They even danced gently together in the church, just as they had in the past.

食卷有益 Feast on the Word

“Feast on the Word” is our church theme for this year. We invite brothers and sisters to journey together through the whole Bible in one year, coming to God’s Word not only to read, but to receive, reflect, and be nourished by His truth.

Reading the Bible is more than completing a plan or gaining knowledge. It is a way of drawing near to God, listening to His voice, and allowing His Word to shape our hearts and lives. Just as a feast brings nourishment, joy, and strength, God’s Word feeds our souls, renews our minds, and guides our steps.

This year, we encourage everyone to build a daily rhythm of Scripture reading. Whether you are reading through the Bible for the first time, or returning to a familiar journey, may this be a year of deeper encounter with God through His Word.

As we read it through, may we take it in.
As we take it in, may we grow together.
And as we grow together, may our lives be shaped by the living Word of God.

This year, let us feast on the Word — read it through, take it in, and grow together.
