Activities: Gospel Film Gathering — Love is plan B

This film is based on a true story—a story of love and hope.

Man Kwok-shing and his wife, Ching-ching, were enjoying a pre-retirement vacation in Hawaii with their family when, unexpectedly, a rare virus attacked Ching-ching’s brain, leaving her life hanging in the balance. Although she was eventually brought back from the brink of death, part of her brain had been permanently damaged, severely affecting her ability to speak and move.

Kwok-shing had no choice but to give up the career he had always taken pride in and devote himself to caring for his wife around the clock, both in the hospital and at home. She had limited mobility and could no longer express herself clearly through speech.

Her recurring health setbacks tested not only their love for one another, but also the faith of everyone around them. To love someone is to build a bridge of hope for them through love when they need you most—and to continue walking that journey together.

On three occasions, Kwok-shing repeated to Ching-ching the vows he had made on their wedding day. The same song also appeared at three significant moments during her long journey of treatment and recovery.

What God gives us may not always be Plan A; it may instead be Plan B. Just when everyone thought it was impossible, Kwok-shing and Ching-ching were able to walk slowly down the red carpet to attend their daughter’s wedding. They even danced gently together in the church, just as they had in the past.

  • 災前準備與災後處理 Pre-Disaster Preparedness and Post-Disaster Response

    Date: 15 August (Sat)

    Time:
    10:15am–11:30am (Cantonese)

    Location: #3380-8181 CAMBIE ROAD, RICHMOND

Speaker: Garfield Huang from ST.JOHN AMBULANCE

Activities: In Canada, we face a wide range of natural disasters and emergencies—from major events such as earthquakes, floods, and tornadoes, to everyday incidents like power outages or fire alarms. Being prepared with an emergency kit, setting a family meeting point after a disaster, and knowing which community facilities offer emergency support are essential for every resident.

To help strengthen public awareness and readiness, St. John Ambulance has organized a special seminar to educate and equip the community with practical emergency response knowledge. The goal is to ensure that everyone can stay calm, act effectively, and protect themselves and their loved ones during unexpected crises.
