Our Story — Part 1

Richmond Emmanuel Church (REC) celebrated its first worship on September 8, 1996. Rev. Silas Ng planted the church with a few families, which became the first Chinese Anglican Church in Richmond, with a focus to reach the many new Chinese immigrants that were coming to the city.

This College of Consultors serves as guardians and overseers, and are responsible for preserving the vision and direction of the Anglican Mission as it expands across the globe.

OUR VALUES

OUR VALUES

We live out our mission through a relational and organic four-year development cycle, using the visionary process that Jesus Christ imparted to his disciples.

“This is what the kingdom of God is like. A man scatters seed on the ground. Night and day, whether he sleeps or gets up, the seed sprouts and grows, though he does not know how. All by itself the soil produces grain—first the stalk, then the head, then the full kernel in the head. As soon as the grain is ripe, he puts the sickle to it, because the harvest has come.”

–Mark 4:26-29

OUR MISSION

OUR MISSION

OUR MISSION

Make Christlike Disciples from Generation to Generation who have a daily relationship with the Father and are empowered by the Spirit to bless all peoples

The Anglican Mission

The Anglican Mission

Richmond Emmanuel Church belongs to a missionary society called The Anglican Mission in Canada. The Anglican Mission in Canada is a missionary movement focused on raising up vibrant and authentic followers of Jesus Christ through organic congregations and a lifestyle of Christ-likeness. We practice a “micro-macro” strategy – making disciples on a micro level through developing intimacy with Jesus and growing in relationship in community groups, which will enable healthy growth of our churches and other apostolic works.

We celebrate the 3 historic streams of the Christian faith:

The Scripture
We hold that the Bible guides our lives and is authoritative for us individually and for the Church at large (known as the evangelical tradition).

The Sacraments
We believe the Sacramental life is embodied in the practices and teachings Christians have held throughout the centuries as expressed in the historic Creeds and 39 Articles of Religion. Our faith tradition has a variety of worship expressions, including the sacraments instituted by Jesus (known as the catholic tradition).

The Spirit
We trust God’s Spirit is at work in the Church and the world, manifesting His power and preparing us for ministry through the deposit of his gifts (known as the charismatic tradition).
